This life of the Buddha is based on quotations from many ancient sources. Most of them are from the Pali Cannon which contains the oldest material on the Buddha's life and teachings. But later sources have been used where they are agreement with the earliest records. The purpose of a life of the Buddha is not reallly record his birth, the events of his life, until his death-the function of most biographies, but by the depiction of his most to teach Dhamma. The material for this life of the Buddha has been selected on this principle: for teaching Dhamma in n attractive way.
