Two Gandhari Manuscripts of the Songs of Lake Anavatapta

The present volume is the fifth in the Gandharan Buddhist Texts series. This series was inaugurated in order to publish the brich bark scrolls in the British Library Kharosthi manuscript collection, dating from about the first century A.D. Subsequently, a second major group of similar Gandharan manuscripts, the Senior Collection, dating from the second century A.D. , was included in the preview of this series, and Andrew Glass's volume 4 inaugurated the publication of these texts.rnVolume 5 combines the study of these two corpora for the first time, as it consists of editions of two different manuscripts of the same text, the Anavatapta-gatha, one each from the British Library and Senior collections. Subsequent volumes of this series will continue the publication of texts from both of these groups of manuscripts, as well as other materials of similar types from other sources.
